A complete 12-week programme - from your first line of code to real apps with the DOM, APIs and async JavaScript. Every lesson has a video, full notes and a code pack, with a quiz every week and a final exam.
JavaScript is the language of the web - it runs in every browser, powers apps like WhatsApp Web and Gmail, and with Node.js it runs servers, mobile apps and AI tools too. In this structured 12-week programme you go from complete beginner to building, debugging and publishing real JavaScript applications - and you finish with the deep understanding (closures, the event loop, prototypes, this) that interviews and frameworks like React expect. How the programme works • 12 weeks, about 4-5 hours a week - 4 lessons and a quiz each week • Every lesson has a video from an experienced developer, full reading notes written for beginners, and a downloadable code pack: working examples (each runs in the browser or with Node), a practice exercise and a model answer • A 10-question quiz at the end of every week (60% to pass) • Final exam: 40 questions, 60 minutes, 70% to pass, 3 attempts • Certificate of completion when you finish every lesson and pass the final exam • Week 1 includes a printable 12-week study plan and progress checklist What you will learn • Week 1 - What JavaScript is, setting up VS Code, the console and Node.js, your first program, variables • Week 2 - Numbers, strings and template literals, data types and conversion, comparisons and truthy/falsy • Week 3 - if/else, switch and the ternary operator, loops, and debugging with Chrome DevTools • Week 4 - Functions, arrow functions, scope and hoisting, callbacks and higher-order functions • Week 5 - Arrays: core methods, looping, map/filter/reduce, find/some/every/sort and spread • Week 6 - Objects, methods and this, arrays of objects, destructuring, spread, optional chaining and JSON • Week 7 - The DOM: selecting elements, changing content and classes safely, creating elements, events • Week 8 - Event delegation, forms and validation, localStorage, and a full to-do list app project • Week 9 - Asynchronous JavaScript: timers, promises, async/await, and fetching data from real APIs • Week 10 - ES modules, classes and OOP, error handling with custom errors, Node.js and npm • Week 11 - Master class: closures, the event loop, prototypes, and this/call/apply/bind • Week 12 - Capstone: plan and build a weather app with a real API, Git and GitHub, deploying free, and your next steps (TypeScript, React, Node.js and your career) Who this course is for Complete beginners, students, SIWES/IT trainees, HTML & CSS learners ready for the next step, and anyone who wants a career in web development. No programming experience needed. What you need A computer with a modern browser (Chrome or Edge), plus the free tools VS Code and Node.js - week 1 shows you how to install them. You can start the first weeks on a phone, but a laptop is needed from week 7.
